A perceptual arrow of time is demonstrated through the derivation of equations governing the acquisition of sensory information at the neural level. Only a small number of mathematical assumptions are required, with no knowledge of the detailed underlying neural mechanism. This work constitutes the first attempt at formalizing a biological basis for the physics of information acquisition, continuing from a series of earlier works detailing an entropy approach to sensory processing.
